DESCRIPTION:The first of our five Brookline Pride June event series! \nPride Month is celebrated every June\, but what’s actually behind the rainbow flags\, the parades\, and the hashtags? In this free virtual presentation\, we’ll go beyond the surface to explore the history\, meaning\, and ongoing significance of Pride: where it came from\, what it stands for today\, and why it still matters. \nDesigned with allies in mind\, this session is open to anyone curious and eager to learn. Come ready to ask questions\, challenge assumptions\, and leave with a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and the people in it. \nA link to participate will be shared on the Facebook event page at 12:00pm on the day of the event. \nJason Van Ness is a licensed social worker with ten years of direct service\, advocacy\, and public speaking\, primarily within the child welfare arena. \nIn his private life\, Jason enjoys spending time with his husband\, being physically active\, and is an avid Golden Girls enthusiast.
