SUMMARY:Trans Tailor: Free Sewing Meetup
DESCRIPTION:A body-neutral and gender-neutral clothes-sewing meetup and skill-share! \nTrans Tailoring is a body-neutral and gender-neutral clothes-sewing meetup and skill-share\, bringing sewing experts and novices together in the same room to work on projects. Bring your own project to work on and ask questions about. Prototype has 1 sewing machine available and some supplies and fabric scraps; bringing your own materials and tools is encouraged. \nFACILITATOR BIO\nGene Anderson (they/he) is a self-taught stitcher\, quilter\, and designer who learned to sew from the generosity of queer sewing mentors\, and Trans Tailoring was created as a way to continue and expand that journey with others. Gene is the creator of The Jilt and other upcycled denim creations\, as well as a local bookkeeper\, plant dad\, and part-time queer brunch host. \nGuest instructors are welcome to get in touch if you want to get involved!

SUMMARY:Making a Chest Binder Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In the first workshop\, participants will learn to collect measurements needed to create a chest binder\, then use those measurements to draft a custom binder pattern. Participants will also review suggested fabrics/notions and construction techniques. \nIn the second workshop\, participants will cut their fabric and sew the garment to a point where it can be tested for fit. Experienced sewists may begin finishing their binder\, while newer sewists will be introduced to and practice finish techniques\, leaving with a binder ready to finish at home. \nAll participants should be familiar and comfortable operating a sewing machine. \nMaterials will be provided. Sewing machines will not be required for the first workshop. A limited number of sewing machines will be available for the second workshop. Bring your own if you know it works! \nNOTE: You will have to register for the 3/14 workshop and the 3/21 workshop separately. \nINSTRUCTOR BIO\nNoah Riley has been making clothes for himself\, loved ones\, and community members for the better part of the past 15 years. He loves using knits and his serger to construct comfortable\, expressive pieces!
