SUMMARY:TRACKWORKS: Session 02 — LOKA\, Lemonline b2b PAULA JEAN\, DJ YUCA\, Ricky Mawzlin
DESCRIPTION:LOKA — Pushing limits and expectations in her sets\, Yesenia Rojas (LOKA) uses music as a way to redefine possibility. Her art and mixing both explore a multi-hyphenated approach to rhythm. Mediated by intuition\, her adventurous spontaneity is rooted in a seductively bold command of skill. Emphasizing experimentation as an embodied practice\, she uses DJing to remix meanings and relationships between club sounds of all forms. Blending a wildly diverse range of influences\, her sets serve as a tribute to the ever-shifting landscape of underground electronic music as tradition and ritual. \nLEMONLINE B2B PAULA JEAN \nLemonline is an eclectic DJ based in Pittsburgh\, where they are a resident of local parties Planet Lush\, Hyperbop\, and Celestial Bodies. They have a deep love for a wide range of electronic music\, always imbuing their sets with a playful\, rhythmic\, and sensual energy — designed for full body impact. \nPaula Jean is a monthly resident DJ at brillobox where she hosts hyperBOP! and Planet Lush. she plays a wide variety of electronic club music\, including techno\, electro house\, hyperpop\, and deconstructed club. she loves to create nonstop\, high energy sets so that everyone on the dance floor feels a perfect mix of euphoria and chaos throughout the night. \nDJ YUCA (Oscar Celedon) is a Pittsburgh-based producer and live performer crafting deep\, high-energy dance music. Blending driving techno\, acid house\, and percussive Caribbean rhythms\, his sets fuse raw hardware control with an intuitive groove built to lock in the floor from peak time to sunrise. \nRICKY MAWZLIN\, as a lifelong music nerd\, Ricky’s passion for DJing and sharing music has led him all over world. His chaotic dance floor journeys take inspiration from everything: hidden record store gems; or from his younger teen/twenty-something years playing in punk & shoegaze bands; or his early work as a video artist; or his extensive travels exploring underground dance scenes all around the world.\nRicky began DJing in local gay bars in Pittsburgh in 2015 and soon began promoting his own dance party\, “Total Trash.” Not long after he co-formed JELLYFISH\, both a party and a DJ collective\, in 2017. \nAs one half of the popular DJ duo Jellyfish\, Ricky has co-organized and played events throughout Pittsburgh and beyond. As a party\, JELLYFISH is a community-focused artsy sometimes-party\, sometimes-rave that celebrates queer joy whether held in an alleyway\, warehouse\, dive bar\, or even a boat dock.\nWith sets that blend everything from italo disco\, to leftfield\, to melodic acid\, and beyond\, he’s played parties and clubs in cities like London\, Mexico City\, Taipei\, Singapore\, NYC\, Bangkok\, Saigon\, Berlin\, Bogota\, and more.
