theatriQ is Dreams of Hope’s theater program for queer and trans youth ages 13-26. It’s all about using your voice and creativity to tell a collective story. With support from local artists, you’ll join an ensemble of peers to build a show from scratch.
Over the last 20 years, theatriQ has provided a welcoming environment for young people to grow in confidence, express themselves, and develop as leaders.
Every year theatriQ invites local multidisciplinary artists to serve as mentors and guides for young people. Together, they create and share original work (theatre, visual art, music, etc.) exploring LGBTQA+ themes.
Here’s how it works: We meet weekly from fall to spring to get to know each other, learn about queer culture and theater, and develop our story.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it takes an ensemble to produce a show! No matter your creative style, there’s space for you. Just because we’re creating a show doesn’t mean you have to be on stage (unless you want to). So stick to what you know and love, or branch out and try something new!
Oh, and you’ll get paid for your time at the end of the season! Stipends and bus tickets are provided.
Ready to create something epic? Join us on Wednesday nights at KST Alloy Studios – 5530 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.
