SUMMARY:The Cozy Collective
DESCRIPTION:A gathering space for connection\, comfort\, and community care. Let’s hang out! \n\n\n\n\n🛋️ Welcome to the Cozy Collective 🛋️\nThe Cozy Collective is a soft\, low-pressure social space where you can unwind\, connect\, and be yourself. \nThink: pillows\, blankets\, gentle lighting\, coloring books\, fidget toys\, and good humans. Some folks come to cuddle. Some come to sit quietly or journal. Some come to meet new people in a calm\, intentional way. However you show up\, you’re welcome here. \nNO TOUCH REQUIRED OR EXPECTED. \nWe open with a short circle to share community agreements and offer a few tools for navigating consent\, communication\, and comfort in shared space. From there\, the space is yours to explore—whether that means making a new friend\, holding hands\, dancing with headphones on\, or curling up solo in the “Solo Salon.” Touch is never required or expected. \nAll genders\, orientations\, relationship styles\, neurotypes\, and bodies are welcome. No prior experience needed. Come solo\, with a partner\, or with friends. This space is queer-affirming\, trauma-informed\, and sensory-friendly. \nWhat can I expect at this event?\nThe Cozy Collective creates an atmosphere similar to a cuddle social\, which is a space curated to create a safe atmosphere to connect with others. It starts with an opening circle and workshop on consent where you learn to feel into your own body and practice saying “Yes” and “No” without any expectations. We teach how to respond in a safe way to verbal and nonverbal communication and how to empower ourselves to be better at communicating with others\, including learning neutral body language. \nThen we move into an open practice\, where you can choose how you want to connect with others or with yourself! There will be many options for relaxation activities in a soft\, cushiony space. Feel free to relax in stillness\, move around the space\, or witness! Read into your body and do what feels right to you. \nSome ways you can connect in this space: \n\nEye gazing\nMirroring through hand movements\nTalking or listening to others and holding space\nJournaling\, drawing\, or listening to music\nCuddling with a stuffed animal\nSitting solo where no one will disturb you\nJoin the Connection Corner for help making connections\nHugging or leaning on someone’s shoulder\nPlaying with someone’s hair\nHand or shoulder massage\nLying back to back\nJoining a train\, spoon line\, or bear den\nCome up with your own ideas!\n\nSchedule\n1:00 PM – Registration begins. Note: Doors close at 1:30 PM. Please text Trisha at 814-969-9418 if you are running late. \n1:30 PM – Opening Circle. Enjoy relaxation activities\, meditation\, communication exercises\, cuddle etiquette\, and our voluntary cuddle lab \n2:30 PM – Cuddle Social begins .Grab a snack! Make a friend! Relax! Meditate! Connect! \n4:30 PM – Closing Circle. Fond farewells and goodbye hugs if we want them! You are welcome to stay until 5:00 pm and help with cleanup if you want! \nWhat does it cost?\nTickets for this event are $20. We offer abundance pricing using the PWYC (Pay What You Can) for those who need low-income tickets. Choose how you want to support us! \nWhat should I wear or bring?\n🧸👚 Bring your comfiest\, cuddliest attire and anything that makes you feel safe. Pajamas or stretchy pants are common. Make sure your outfit covers your torso and bottom. Stuffed animals and onesies are welcome! Snacks are more than welcome\, but leave the intoxicants at home – this event is all about pure\, wholesome connection. \nWhat is acceptable in the space?\n✅ Laughing and crying are welcome. Being quiet. Asking for touch with neutral body language. \n❌ No short shorts or nighties please. No heavy perfumes or cologne. No alcohol or intoxicants (unless it’s specific to the event’s theme). No excessively loud conversations. No touching anyone without a verbal yes for each touch request\, even if you already had an interaction with that person. \nWhat do I do if I feel turned on?\nThese socials are platonic safe spaces. We do not promote shame around having feelings in your body\, but we do strive to towards platonic connection at all times in the cuddle space. If you are feeling overwhelmed\, you can move to a different area or snack area\, or exit the social altogether. You can also speak with one of our consent angels for more guidance. \nWhat if I feel sick after buying a ticket?\nWe would like to protect our lovely community so please stay home if you are feeling under the weather. Your ticket can be reimbursed or saved for a future event. Thank you for keeping us safe! \nWhat are consent angels?\nConsent Angels are volunteers that have been through consent training and help co-create a safe environment. These folks will be easy to spot throughout the event and you can come to them at any time for assistance (even if they look busy!). They will also be keeping an eye out for consent mishaps and will kindly help folks learn the best ways to create a safe space together. \n🌟 Together\, we’ll co-create community guidelines to foster a warm\, safe environment for all. And remember\, your safety is our priority. If you feel like leaving at any time\, just notify one of the hosts or angles so we know you are safe. \nWho is hosting this event?\nTrisha is a passionate queer community builder who loves creating unique and memorable experiences. After the pandemic\, she has been trying to rebuild communities in new ways that strive to connect people more than ever. She started 3rd Place to promote events that help connect\, educate\, and grow the communities we live in. \nWhat is the venue?\nWe will be located at Glitterbox Theater in Homestead\, which offers a wide\, open space full of cozy corners. There is street parking nearby and bathrooms in an ADA accessible space. There will be couches\, chairs\, mats\, air mattresses\, and snacks. \nLooking for something softer in this loud world?\nBring your stuffie\, your curiosity\, and your whole self—we’ll bring the pillows and the vibes. Community magic happens when we slow down together. Come get cozy with us!
