We’re celebrating Pride Month at Pittsburgh Glass Center with a day full of exciting and colorful activities for the whole family.
Free Tour & Demonstration: 12:30
Join us for a one-hour free tour and demonstration at 12:30pm. You’ll meet the artists and get an up-close opportunity to feel the heat from the glassblowing demonstration. Also included is a guided exploration of our newest contemporary glass exhibition.
Make a Fused Rainbow Suncatcher: 1–5pm
(Pay what makes you happy!)
With assistance from expert glass artists, combine brilliantly colored pieces of sheet glass, glass granules, and thin glass strands to create a luminous suncatcher. Once you design it, we’ll fire it, so that all pieces become one. Ages 5+, no registration necessary.
Make a Rainbow Paperweight: 10am–1pm
($50/person)
Create a paperweight with all the colors in the rainbow with assistance from expert glass artists. Work one-on-one with an instructor to twist, pull, and shape hot glass into a colorful paperweight you will want to display with pride all year round. Ages 5+, pre-registration required: https://canvas.pittsburghglasscenter.org/classes/1223
Watch Glassblowing Demonstrations with Grace Whiteside: 6–7pm
Grace Whiteside is a NY-based interdisciplinary artist whose work draws from their experiences of dysphoria and physical participation in reality television shows such as Salvage Dawgs and Blown Away. Learn step-by-step how Grace creates their traveling glass puppet show. Learn more about Grace: www.instagram.com/graciewhiteside/
