We’re back! There are many exciting things in motion for Hot Mass at the moment. We have found a new home for a bit and are currently settling in. The usual rotation and frequency will be changing slightly, but more on that later. For now, we are kicking things back off with Humanaut and a double feature for disciples of bass – Darwin and Father of Two.

Topographical features abound in the best of dance music; undulating bass, glittering synths and skittering polyrhythms can’t help but conjure images of wide-sweeping vistas when you’re at your most locked-in. Few have this talent like Darwin (@darwin_reef). Her approach to music, influenced by UK soundsystem culture and points beyond, has always been wide-reaching and surgically precise in equal measure— something that only sounds paradoxical until you experience it for yourself.

Between her legendary REEF parties in Berlin, her impeccably curated SPE:C label, and her raucous DJ sets, a unifying vision comes into view. Pittsburgh has always been affine to a left-of-center rhythmic and bass-forward approach, and Darwin has long been a kindred spirit. We couldn’t be more excited for her return. She’s drawing the map. All you have to do is follow it.

On opening support we have our very own Father of Two (@bbbohan), for whom UK Funky never died.
