The Affinity Social Hour is a catered picnic in the park! We’ll start with 30 minutes of discussion around a community prompt, followed by unstructured time for open discussion.

The event will be catered by Jackie Kennedy Catering with Shrimp and Grit Cups, Tomato Basil Salad, Chimichurri Chicken, and Mushroom and Gruyère Tartlets.

At the end of each session, one attendee will win a prize of $100 in value.

Save the Dates! The Black Queer Affinity Series is a project curated by Pittsburgh-based artist Nola Mims. This weekly series will consist of 22 events solely for Black Queer folks to gather and find community, play, rest, and relaxation.

The series comprises 8 Yoga Sessions led by YOGAMOTIF, 8 Affinity Social Hours with refreshments catered from local eateries, and 6 Ceramic Workshops with Mims Ceramics.

What are the events?

Tuesday Evening Social Hour
The Affinity Social Hour is a catered picnic in the park! We’ll start with 30 minutes of discussion around a community prompt, followed by unstructured time for open discussion. Light food and other refreshments will be provided. At the end of each session, one attendee will win a raffle prize (one prize per event. one win per person).

Thursday Evening Ceramics
Mims Ceramics is a Black and Queer-owned handmade home goods brand founded by Nola Mims. During the event series, Nola will lead 6 hand-building workshops. Each session will focus on making a unique and functional project like incense holders, dishware, and other home goods.

***Location will be sent to registered attendees only. For planning travel, this event will take place near Bakery Square, 1 minute from the 71D bus line and 4 minutes from the 71C.***

Sunday Morning Yoga
YOGAMOTIF is a creative wellness studio that offers art and yoga classes to youth, pregnant people, and the community at large.

***Location will be sent to registered attendees only. For planning travel, this event will take place near Highland Park and is a 5-minute walk from the 71A and 71B bus lines.***
